Living in the Triangle means college sports are part of the background noise everyday, whether you like it or not. And rivalries can make discussions get heated fast. So if you're "meh" on sports or just don't want to get into a rivalry argument, why not just avoid picking a side?
What Makes Triangle College Rivalries Hard to Avoid?
We're surrounded by great universities like Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, NC State, and NCCU. You'll see them represented on license plates, worn to the grocery store, and hanging in your colleagues' offices. And while there are many good sports teams in the area, this is known as basketball country. I wore one of the local university's sweatshirts to the grocery store on a random Saturday during basketball season, and three different people randomly started talking to me about that night's game. (Yeah, I don't know anything about basketball.)
What if You Just Don't Care?
I used to work with folks who passionately debated Duke and UNC Chapel Hill basketball games. At every Zoom meeting or breakroom interaction, they'd have a full breakdown of the latest games and who played better. I love their passion, but keep me out of it. Maybe you too feel perfectly "meh" about college sports (or academics or other competitions). Shouldn't you be accepted the way you are? Just a big ol' wall of quiet indifference? Yes, you should. And you can show that indifference through a perfectly bland bumper sticker.
Stand Up for Yourself Through Bumper Stickers
If you love Durham, tolerate all the sports talk, prefer humor over heated arguments, and happen to drive a car, this bumper sticker lets you declare your neutrality. It lets you quietly say, "Keep me out of it." Pair it with a goat-related bumper sticker for a quintessential Durham bumper.
